Tanner

Tanner was transferred to Mississauga Humane Society in the spring of 2023.  

He had been neglected/abused. Extremely thin and scars on his body- this poor needed a lot of TLC when he came into care. Through the love of his foster family-veterinarians/specialists and professional training- Tanner has transformed into the beautiful gentle dog that he is today.   

Tanner (6 years old)  is a very smart, sweet dog that warms up to people very quickly. He is the perfect house dog. He loves to lounge on the couch and watch movies with his foster family. Tanner has received extensive training and follows commands well. He requires a lot of exercise and enjoys going for walks. 

He would do best as the only pet in the home.   

Tanner is on a specialized hypo- allergenic diet due to mild allergies. 

From Tanner’s Foster

“We have been fostering Tanner for a little over a year. We decided to foster a rescue after our boy, Olle, passed away. One to honor his memory by doing something kind and the second- to selfishly fill the physical space and have someone to give our love to. Tanner definitely has his own personality. Not too much cuddle time but affection when he wants it. That said, he is a sweet boy and never tires of our kisses and hugs. He has won over our neighbors and has to visit for some love whenever he passes by for a walk. With our regular visitors, he is calm and enjoys the attention.  With new people who come, he is a little apprehensive, but usually after a few sniffs settles in.  He is smart and being “food motived” learns new skills relatively fast with consistency. He is good with smaller dogs that he knows in the neighborhood and whines when he sees them. That being said, he also has a mischievous side and keeps us on our toes. 

He is up for a car ride anytime- and loves to poke his head out the window. He enjoys exploring new places and happy to go on adventures. There is always a very enthusiastic greeting when we get home- be it 2 or 8 hours. He gets lots of compliments when we go for walks.  He just needs a person or family who are willing to be patient, kind and confident. The love you give him- he returns back ten-fold.  ”
