Stormi’s Adoption Story

A few years ago, we received a call from a family, a momma and her three babies were in their backyard and homeless.

MHS came out and trapped the momma and her babies.

We shared with everyone, earlier, about Momma Sally and the pellets lodged in her body from some heartless person who was using her for target practice.

We want to share this happy ever after story about one of her kittens. Stormi was in an amazing foster home where the foster worked diligently with him.

But he was still a bit shy.

Sometimes all some kitties need is time and someone willing to be patient.

This is Stormi’s adoption story.

”After losing our dear cat Bob, our home felt empty. We weren’t sure we were ready, and our senior tuxedo, Ninja, might not want a new friend.

Mississauga Humane Society’s foster-to-adopt program felt like the perfect solution. It gave us the chance to “test-drive” a cat, to see if Ninja wanted a friend, and if we were ready to expand our family.

That’s when I came across Stormi’s description: “Large, sweet, funny and a very shy cat! He loves pets and is vocal, especially in the mornings." Paired with a photo of his big green eyes, it was love at first sight.

And shy, he was.

It took time for Stormi to adjust to people, but he fell in love with Ninja immediately. At first, Ninja resisted the constant affection, but Stormi’s persistence won him over, and the two became inseparable: cuddling, playing, and lounging together. Stormi wasn’t the only one growing; Ninja seemed younger again, chasing Stormi around the house. These days, it’s not unusual to find them canoodling on the couch.

With us, Stormi’s trust came more slowly, but every milestone has felt like a victory. He went from hiding from us to seeking us out for playtime. From not quite understanding how to play to doing backflips for the stick toy. Now he answers to his name with squeaky little meows and races across the house to cuddle before bedtime.

We’re so grateful he’s part of our lives.”
