Sponsor a Friend
As a 100% donation and volunteer-based rescue, we rely heavily on help from the community. Our sponsor a pet program means you can help us care for an animal with special needs. Some rescued animals come with medical, behavioural or other issues and, sadly, cannot be adopted. These cases usually result in expensive care, but we cannot turn them away, so we seek animal lovers who will help as foster parents or sponsor parents...
FOSTER PARENTS provide safe, loving homes and meet the daily needs of their foster pets. Thank you, foster parents, for opening up your home to cats and dogs in need!
SPONSOR PARENTS provide financial assistance, so the rescued animals get the care they need. Thank you, Sponsors, for giving these animals a chance. We CANNOT do this without the support of amazing people like you!

FIV Cats: Feline Immunodeficiency Virus
FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, is similar to HIV in humans. The virus slowly deteriorates the cat's immune system, making them more susceptible to infections. Many of these cats can - and will - live generally happy and healthy lives but, just like HIV in humans, FIV in cats comes with a scary stigma. Some of our FIV cats are available for adoption, while others will remain in long term foster. Whether you choose to Sponsor a cat or Adopt a cat, either way, you are saving a life!

Andrew and Gary
Andrew (black) and Gary (tabby) are a bonded pair of shadow cats who are FIV+ They came from an industrial area along with several other cats. Andrew is laid back and independent. He likes sleeping, napping and eating (just like me). Gary is playful and curious. As the more timid of the two he has surprisingly shown the most interest in interacting with people. He will come up to you if he wants something (food or play). He likes chasing the laser pointer and playing with small fuzzy mouse toys. |
FeLV: FELINE LEUKEMIA VIRUS CATS
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is a serious infection that does not have a good prognosis. As of this year, we test every single one of our cats who are old enough, for FeLV and FIV, to be able to detect and handle a FeLV diagnosis sooner! FeLV compromises the cat's immune system, can cause tumors, and the infected usually have a 2-5 year life expectancy. Not all initially infected will have this sad prognosis; about 85% of cats 4 months and older are able to fight the virus and create antibodies for the rest of their long happy lives!
We currently do not have any positive cases of Feling Leukemia Virus infection cats at this time
