MATTY - FIV and Diabetic
My name is Matty. I was left behind at a trucking site, after all my siblings were chosen over me and
taken home as kittens. I spent 2years at this site. The workers and a nice delivery lady fed me and built me a shelter to protect me from the harsh elements stormy weather. Finally, I was taken into foster care through MHS. Just before I was about to be adopted, my foster mom noticed discomfort when picking me up and felt a small bump underneath me. It turned out to be an abscess. I had surgery with a tube to clean it out. I was tested and FIV+. Some bully cat beat me up and bit me so hard, spreading the virus to me. Needless to say, the interested candidates, declined. My foster mom loved me even more. |
Call and after call came in and declined. Then … a call came in that changed my life and spirits; and the
life and spirits of one special member of the family who wanted ME over all the other cats on the
website even though I was FIV+. In fact, she wanted ME more than than any other gifts for her
birthday!!! I went to my new foster family and have been with them ever since because they LOVE me
to bits! The story doesn’t end there. My foster family started noticing I was drinking a lot of water and
using the litter box more frequently than normal. I now have diabetes … my foster family still LOVES me
to bits. I am one of the lucky ones MHS supports with insulin injections, needles and a special vet food.
I also have a foster to take care of me when my real foster family goes on vacation and here I am in her
home. My life is pretty sweet because I have Super Sweet fosters showering me with all the love and
care I need. Most of all, I am am still their favourite birthday gift, after all these years.
