New foster or adoption matches are being accepted gradually; we have to maintain safety for both our volunteers and new homes, foster or adoptive. Please be patient as we work as quickly and safely as we can. You can still help by donating, sponsoring or doing volunteer work as per our new safety guidelines. Please check back on our website or follow us on Instagram/Facebook for updates.
Thank you for your patience and understanding and stay safe.
We do not operate an animal shelter. Most of our cats and dogs stay in foster homes until adoption.
Ready to choose a dog to adopt from Mississauga Humane Society? We encourage you to fill out an adoption application so we can see which dog will be a good fit for your family. If you see a face you love, make sure to note it on your application form! We pride ourselves in matching families and dogs by thorough interviews and discussion; many of our dogs come from rough or lonely pasts and we want both the future home and the dog to be understanding and supportive of each other. If you need further help or have any questions, please contact us.
It's exciting to bring a dog into your home. While we're thrilled you've decided to take the plunge, we ask you to please think long-term about the responsibilities of parenting a pet. You'll want to be prepared with supplies before your dog arrives. A quiet room for the first few days will help your pet adjust to you and your new home. If you have other animals in the house, introduce them gradually to avoid overwhelming the newcomer.
We appreciate your patience as we must ensure every dog is placed into a safe and loving home, for life.
