We do not operate an animal shelter. Most of our cats and dogs stay in foster homes until adoption.
Ready to choose a dog to adopt from Mississauga Humane Society, we encourage you to fill out an adoption application so we can see which dog will be a good fit for your family. If you see a face you love, make sure to note it on your application form! We pride ourselves in matching families and dogs by thorough interviews and discussion; many of our dogs come with rough or lonely pasts and we want both the future home and the dog to be understanding and supportive of each other. If you need further help or have any questions, please contact us.
It's exciting to bring a dog into your home. While we're thrilled you've decided to take the plunge, we ask you to please think long-term about the responsibilities of parenting a pet. You'll want to be prepared with supplies before your dog arrives. A quiet room for the first few days will help your pet adjust to you and your new home. If you have other animals in the house, introduce them gradually to avoid overwhelming the newcomer.
More tips are provided in "Bringing your dog home."
We appreciate your patience as we must ensure every dog is placed into a safe and loving home, for life.
