A message about changes In Mississauga Humane Society
The Board of Directors of the Mississauga Humane Society thank you for your continuing support of our organization.
In April 2019 changes occurred with our Board. Lily Chan and Marlene Labog, the President and Vice President, were voted out of office and off the Board.
New officers were voted into office and our new Board of Directors consists of:
Al Russell - President
Eva Prout - Vice President and Treasurer
Lori Russell - Secretary
Janice Cox
Brianne Crawford
We are registered with the Charities Directorate (Toll free 1-800-267-2384) and with the Ministry of Consumer and Corporate Affairs (Corporate Profile will be provided if requested).
This transition has been difficult as past records of the organization and MHS social media pages have not been made available to us. We, however, are a dedicated group and have continued in our mission to rescue cats and dogs while dealing with operational procedures. We have updated some of those procedures and have created a new website mississaugahumanesociety.ca
The website is functioning while we continue to work on improvements.
Unfortunately, we have also been hampered by denial of our volunteer and foster home lists, and by a group of past volunteers who have posted false comments on GoFundMe and advertised their new rescue on our Facebook page.
We want to assure you that Mississauga Humane Society is now operating with the proper governance and financial transparency that is expected of our organization, and that we are in the process of securing our rightful assets. Despite the challenges we have faced in the past few months we have rescued over 90 cats and dogs, have provided them with veterinarian and foster care, and have completed 76 cat adoptions and 7 dog adoptions. We have arranged for life-changing operations for two of our animals.
We have made major changes such as implementing a shelter management system. We now have our forms for adoption, volunteering and fostering available on-line and have ensured better protections for our volunteers and animals. We have organized new fund raisers and will continue with successful ones from the past. We are working on more comprehensive policies and procedures, and on our charity by- laws to include open membership. We want people like you who have an interest in our MHS mission to be able to elect board members and contribute your ideas and suggestions to strengthen Mississauga Humane Society.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at the telephone number above or at info@mississaugahumanesociety.com
