ANIMALS IN CARE

It's our 2021 goal to highlight all the animals in our care. As the end of 2020 taught us, there is a forever home for even our most difficult, those with diagnosis, or even unusual histories!
Everything below is just a snippet of each of the animals in our care, all of them are bigger and more complex then a single paragraph, so if any one sparks your heart, please contact us for more information! You can also fill in an application before if you would like to adopt one of our animals!

Calvin and Hobbes       They are approximately 1- 2 years old.
They are a bonded pair- which means they must be adopted together.
Calvin is grey and white. He is FIV positive.
Hobbes is orange and white. He is FIV negative.
Bio for Calvin and Hobbes that their foster dad lovingly wrote:
C and H are both very friendly and like to be picked up and held, even on their backs facing upwards.
C and H are very trusting. You can hold them and walk around the house and they are content.
C and H both allow you to pet their bellies, but Calvin likes it more and will roll over for you to do it.
C and H are very energetic and chase each other around running up and down the stairs. They both love playing with the little mice toys.
C and H are both very talkative, and will respond when you talk to them.
Hobbes makes the murmuring sounds when he's searching for the mice toys.
Calvin is a loud purrer and it starts up right away when you pet him.
C and H both like to follow from room to room and love hanging out with their foster dad.

Charlie             Male- Neutered- 5 Months
Not available for adoption at this time due to ongoing medical concerns.
Charlie was rescued from a barn. He was a tiny kitten- approximately 5 weeks old when he came into the care of MHS. Charlie was originally diagnosed with Pectus Excavatum- which is a chest deformity where the ribs and breastbone grow inward instead of outward- causing a depression. This condition can lead to shortness of breath and loss of stamina. X-rays were needed to help determine the severity of his condition. The veterinarian preformed physical therapy on Charlie for several weeks- helping to alleviate his discomfort. It was discovered that Charlie has a heart murmur, as well. After an Echocardiogram was performed- he was diagnosed with having leaky valves and is on the wait list to be examined by a cardiologist to further diagnose and determine case management.
Charlie is an extremely playful kitten who is quite active despite his health issues. He is receiving excellent care from his foster family and is completely adored.
Charlie will need further X rays as well as another Echocardiogram  to monitor and care for his heart condition.

Stella             Female - Spayed - 3 years
Stella and her babies were rescued from a barn. Her babies have been adopted into a loving home and now it is Stella's turn to find her forever home. Stella is a shy but very sweet girl. Since she has never lived in a house before- she is becoming familiar with the sights and sounds of living in a home. She is shy and will run at loud noises but is extremely affectionate and loves pets. She is learning how to play and loves chasing balls and cat springs. She has a healthy appetite and loves interacting with her foster mom when given treats. Stella would do best in a quiet home where her new family understands that she needs time and patience. This lovely sweet girl is waiting for her new family!

Annie                Adult- Female- Spayed- Glaucoma
Annie came to us- suffering from severe eye pain due to untreated glaucoma.
The pressure in her eyes was so great that there was the possibility that she might require surgery to remove one or both of her eyes.

At this time- surgery will not be required.
Annie is a lovely little lady who loves to be petted. She is sweet and a little shy.
She is friends with the other kitties she lives with where they take turns grooming each other.
She spends her days relaxing by the window watching the birds at the feeder.
She loves playing with her catnip toys and playing with her wand toy.
She loves her morning meals of wet food and comes running when breakfast is served.
